the Roots & wings journey

Roots and Wings was originally conceived while I was workshopping with my mentor Mee. She asked me to convey my desired state of being through a movement; I dug my toes into the earth, bent my knees, and then lengthened upwards, opening my arms into a wide wingspan. The movement expressed my yearning to feel grounded, sturdy, nourished, comfortable in my sense of self, and connected to my true place. It communicated the equally important need to explore, expand, travel, to have adventures and spread my wings. Roots & Wings speaks to my soul's hunger to connect deeply with the tribes of humanity and experience the unifying energy that weaves all of our stories into one. To this end, or beginning, Roots & Wings represents the freedom to journey to all the places we are called in order to retrieve the lost or forgotten sparks of our individuality so that we can embody and celebrate them together, safely, with absolute abandon.

Chagit Lanton

Blessed to have found a career that is also my hobby, I am unwaveringly committed to the art of connection, to peeling back layers, decoding patterns, and experiencing the depth of all life has to offer. With a background in psychology, my love of movement and self-expression uncovered a place to call home when I switched gears and pursued yoga and alternative healing in 2013. I have since acquired over 700 hours of formal training in various yoga styles and have been a certified yoga therapist (IAYT300) since 2015. The study of manual therapy also became paramount to me when I understood the remarkable need and benefit of human touch and hands on support in navigating and containing the world of emotions and sensations that inhabit the body/mind. My personal movement philosophy seeks to draw out a playful and exploratory spirit while facilitating an appreciation for the human body and its unique language and capacities. At the heart of my practice is the desire to create space for all parts of the self to be seen and expressed with unapologetic authenticity. I am a lover of music, heartbeats, breath-sounds, travel, super sweaty movement sessions, and liberal bouts of contagious laughter.
